We use aluminium freehubs as standard on all our hubs but these steel versions can be fitted as an option instead. They are significantly heavier (167g compared to 80g for alu) but their strength makes them a useful options for e-bikes where the extreme torque can distort aluminium freehubs.
The steel freehubs additionally feature a double bearing at the pawl end (compared to one bearing for the aluminium freehubs) for greatly increased bearing life and load capacity.
